Amicalola Falls is a 729 waterfall located in the Amicalola Falls State Park. Unlike several other waterfalls in the state, you can actually immerse yourself in the Old Roswell Mill Falls, rather than just viewing them longingly from afar. Overall I had a nice time, but this hike is probably behind some other local Chattahoochee hikes such as Sope Creek Trail and the East Palisades Trail in terms of priority to re-visit.There are so many hidden gems when it comes to hiking in Georgia and huge waterfalls. Even though it is nice that there is a park this big to hike in so close to the city, I was not a huge fan of the road noise you get on various sections of the trail. Vickery Creek Trail is a heavily trafficked loop trail located near Roswell, GA that features a gorgeous waterfall. The forested sections are nice and shady, but are not particularly special in appearance. Bordering the Chattahoochee River, Interstate 285, and Suburbia sprawl, Sope Creek offers the city dweller an environmental. Sope Creek is a little slice of wild heaven squeezed into the hustle and bustle of Atlantas metro madness. Given the many variations in the trail that I mentioned earlier, you can pretty much make the hike as short or long as you wish. Roswell Mill refers to a cluster of mills located in Fulton County near Vickery Creek in Roswell, Georgia. A maze of trails running through a secluded forest and old Mill ruins just on the edge of Atlanta. Although this hike has some mild climbs and descents, it is fairly easy and should be doable for most adults and even kids. The Chattahoochee River here is also fairly scenic and has some of the larger rapids in the area of the river around Atlanta. A covered pedestrian bridge connects the Roswell trails in Old Mill Park to the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area trails on the other side of the creek. The Machine Shop is the only mill building that survived the Civil War. The covered bridge is also really cool, as you don't see those every day. A bonus to this hike is the covered bridge (Great photo opp) and the waterfall near the mill. This hike was very nice in some regards, but I felt it was a bit average in other ways too.
