13" Macbook Pro (with M1, another clusterfuck I guess?), Lenovo Thinkbook or MS Surface. So I narrowed it down to the three laptops mentioned in the thread title. But what CPU is sufficient and is 8GB of RAM sufficient for my use scenario? Budget is about 1500€ max. No matter what Laptop I choose there's also the question about specs: Since I don't use sample libraries harddrive space shouldn't be a huge issue. But I'm willing to go Mac if it's better suited for the use scenario mentioned above. If possible I'd want to stick with Windows simply because I'm used to it and Windows laptops are cheaper than Macs. My idea is to multitrack-record a jam and edit the individual tracks afterwards. I don't use soft synths and close to no VSTs (only compression/limiter and EQ after recording) I want to be able to record AND play back as many channels as these mixers/interfaces have at once. I also want to get a new audio interface: Either a Soundcraft Signature 12MTK or a Tascam Model 12. So is it safer to get a PC/Windows laptop nowadays? For example I experienced other people who couldn't run their PC laptops while plugged into a wall outlet because of grounding issues. Is this no issue anymore? Eleven years ago the common sense was that getting a Windows laptop for audio was sort of hit or miss. Bloatware that slows down your computer finds no mention. I just started to do a research on Windows laptops for audio and a lot of stuff seems to have changed in the last eleven years: DPC latency finds no mention in all the reviews. So my 11 years old Dell desktop PC with which I was never really happy is slowly dying.
